Update - While many clients have successfully mitigated the issue by applying Microsoft's Known Issue Rollback (KIR) or removing the affected Windows security update, we understand these measures are temporary workarounds rather than permanent solutions.
Microsoft has advised that it is tentatively targeting July 14, 2026 for the release of a Windows security update intended to permanently resolve this issue. Based on the information currently available, the July update is expected to supersede the June security update, and no additional action should be required beyond installing the July update through your organization's standard update process.
Please note that Microsoft has not yet formally confirmed the release date, and timelines remain subject to change. We will continue to monitor Microsoft's progress and share updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

For clients who continue to experience issues, please refer to the Word Merge Workaround Guide for available mitigation options while awaiting Microsoft's permanent fix: https://nextech.my.salesforce.com/sfc/p/#40000000N1VL/a/Vy00000AYsjN/EUvtii9OLBHYUr1k36LwMF5C8YWGreLKvp_.SQ.PhGA

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this issue has caused and appreciate your continued patience. We recognize that this resolution has taken longer than originally anticipated and remain committed to keeping you informed as new information becomes available.

Update - Microsoft is continuing to work on a permanent fix for the word merging issues. They expect it to be permanently resolved in their next security update which still does not have a date yet.

Many of our customers have rolled back to alleviate the issue but we understand some of our customers are unable to do so. For those customers still experiencing issues Microsoft has released a KIR (Known Issue Rollback) as an alternative solution.

Please refer your IT staff to this article to review more information on the KIR and if it's a viable option for your practice: https://nextech.my.salesforce.com/sfc/p/#40000000N1VL/a/Vy00000AYsjN/EUvtii9OLBHYUr1k36LwMF5C8YWGreLKvp_.SQ.PhGA

Update - We are actively testing the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) provided by Microsoft to validate that it resolves the issue impacting word merge functionality.

At this time, Microsoft has not confirmed when a permanent fix will be released or broadly deployed.

We will continue to provide updates as testing progresses and more information becomes available.

Update - Microsoft has confirmed this as a known issue and is actively working on a resolution. They have indicated that a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) is in progress.

At this time, Microsoft has not provided confirmation on how or when the KIR will be deployed. We are continuing to work closely with Microsoft to better understand rollout timing and potential customer impact.

As an interim measure, some customers have reported that uninstalling the affected Windows update restores functionality. We recommend coordinating with your IT team before making any changes, particularly those involving security updates.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available from Microsoft.

Update - Microsoft has confirmed that recent Windows updates released on or after June 9, 2026 are causing compatibility issues with certain third-party applications, including Nextech workflows that rely on Microsoft Office integrations.

Specifically, this issue impacts applications that use OLE automation to interact with Microsoft Office, which may result in Office applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access) failing to open or launch correctly when initiated through affected workflows.
Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and is actively developing a resolution, which is expected to be delivered through a future Windows update.

We understand the impact this disruption may have on your operations and sincerely apologize. Our team remains actively engaged with Microsoft and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update - Microsoft’s recommended workaround remains to coordinate with your internal IT team to uninstall Windows Update KB5094126 to restore Word Merge functionality.

At this time, Microsoft has not confirmed that the issue is fully resolved. While there are indications that recent backend changes may have improved performance, results have not been consistent across all clients.

Some clients have reported success after uninstalling and reapplying the update; however, we are not yet able to confirm this as a reliable or permanent solution.

Currently, we do not have an estimated timeline for a full resolution. Our team remains actively engaged with Microsoft to validate a long-term fix. For clients who have already rolled back the update, we recommend remaining in that state until the issue is confirmed resolved.

We recognize the impact this issue may have on your operations and sincerely apologize for the disruption. We will continue to provide timely updates as more information becomes available.

Monitoring - We continue to work closely with Microsoft to resolve the issue impacting patient document merging. Microsoft has identified the root cause as a conflict introduced by Windows Update KB5094126, which is preventing the NexCloud application from launching Microsoft Word on local installations.

At this time, Microsoft’s recommended mitigation is to coordinate with your IT administrators to uninstall Windows Update KB5094126 in order to restore Word Merge functionality. We have received confirmation from many customers that this rollback has been successful; however, some customers are still experiencing issues despite implementing this action.

Currently, we do not have an estimated timeline for a permanent resolution. We remain actively engaged with Microsoft to identify and validate a long-term fix.

We understand the disruption this issue may cause to your workflows and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
